The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique ride and hiking experience that should be loved by everyone.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bike tunnel, opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.



The tunnel links the paths between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza.  נווה פריצקי The tunnel's southern entrance is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was inaugurated by Jerusalem's Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin.  נווה פריצקי It was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov, Gihon Water Company chairman, and hundreds of cyclists.

Elkin who's ministry in charge of the project with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry had invested hundreds of millions of shekels each year in Jerusalem's tourist development and in the development of new activities and ventures that will connect the magnificent historical past with the exciting future of Jerusalem. The project was financed by the Elkin's department and the Tourism Ministry. It also included the budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation.  נווה פריצקי The project was done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move the main sewer line toward the Sorek purification plant.

In order to make the tunnel accessible to the general public throughout the year, the works include road construction, as well as installing blowers.
